nnCertified Occupational Therapy Assistant / COTA (Home Health Care)

Job Responsibilities As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will provide occupational therapy services under the direction of the Occupational Therapist and according to the physician's plan of care. This involves participating in the ongoing evaluation of patient's functional status and the home environment for hazards or barriers to more independent living as delegated by the Registered Occupational Therapist.

COTA responsibilities include:

nnParticipating in teaching new skills or retraining patients in once familiar daily activities that have been lost due to illness or injury

nMaintaining appropriate clinical records, clinical notes, and reporting to the Registered Occupational Therapist any changes in the patient's condition

nSubmitting clinical documentation

nFollowing treatment program and goals for improved patient function as established by the Registered Occupational Therapist

nDocumenting patient's response to treatment plan and progress toward established goals

nMaintaining contact/communication with other personnel involved in the patient's care to promote coordinated, efficient care

nAttending and contributing to in-services, case conferences, and other meetings

nIdentifying patient and family/caregiver needs for other home care services, consulting with the supervising Registered Occupational Therapist, and assisting with necessary referrals as appropriate

nParticipating in instructing patient's family/caregiver and other Organization health care personnel in patient's treatment regime as delegated by the registered occupational therapist Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

nCOTA requirements:

nnGraduate of an Occupational Therapy Assistant curriculum accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association

nCertified with the National Certification Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association

nLicensed by the State Board of Healing Arts in accordance with State licensure laws

n1 year of clinical experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

nDemonstrates good verbal and written communication as well as organization skills

nCurrent CPR certification Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant / COTA (Home Health Care)
