Job description
Role Overview
A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provides direct patient care by implementing therapy interventions under the supervision of a physical therapist, following the physician's plan of care.
Key Responsibilities
Assess, treat, and educate patients to improve or restore function and relieve pain.
Communicate regularly with patients and caregivers about the care plan.
Provide skilled therapy services and ensure patient safety during treatments.
Report patient progress and any changes to supervisors and physicians.
Educate patients and families on the use of prosthetic, orthotic, and assistive devices.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members on patient care plans.
Plan for discharge, prepare instructions, and communicate discharge details.
Maintain documentation, records, and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
Participate in ongoing education and adhere to professional standards.
React productively to change and perform additional assigned duties.
Qualifications & Skills
Graduation from an accredited PTA program.
Current, unrestricted state licensure as a PTA.
Valid CPR certification.
Preferred experience in home health therapy and OASIS documentation.
