Horizontal Boring Mill MachinistLocation: Cleveland, OH Job Type: Direct Hire Opportunity Union Shop Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Horizontal Boring Mill Machinist to join our Cleveland manufacturing team. This position is responsible for operating and setting up large-scale CNC horizontal boring mills used to machine heavy cast iron components and industrial parts requiring deep-hole drilling, precision boring, and tight dimensional tolerances. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate large CNC horizontal boring mills to machine complex, heavy industrial components. G&L CNC Horizontal Boring Mill – 6 " spindle, 120 " Y-axis, 168 " X-axis/ G&L CNC Horizontal Boring Mill – 5 " spindle, 96 " Y-axis, 129 " X-axis Perform deep-hole drilling, precision boring, milling, and related machining operations. Set up machine tooling and make necessary tool changes and adjustments. Enter and adjust tool offsets within the machine's CNC control. Read and interpret CNC G-code and M-code. Inspect finished and in-process components to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards are met. Accurately use precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, bore gauges, and related measuring instruments . Read and interpret blueprints, machining specifications, and dimensional requirements. Monitor machining processes and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and productivity. Safely handle and position large and heavy workpieces.Qualifications Previous experience operating CNC horizontal boring mills is strongly preferred. CNC lathe experience involving parts approximately 5 "–15 " in diameter is preferred. Strong understanding of CNC G-code and M-code programming . Proven ability to set up machine tooling and adjust tool offsets using a CNC control. Experience with a tool presetter is a plus. Ability to read and accurately use micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, bore gauges, and other inspection equipment. High school diploma or equivalent Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment screening.
