nWhy Hospice? Why VITAS?
nHave you ever considered hospice as a clinical specialty—one that blends clinical expertise with deep human connection?
nJust like cardiology or pediatrics, hospice is a specialty rooted in skill, compassion, and purpose. At VITAS, we’re redefining what’s possible in end-of-life care—one patient, one family at a time.
nRediscover the Heart of Nursing
nYou became a nurse to make a meaningful difference—to care, to educate, and to advocate during life’s most vulnerable moments. If the hospital’s fast-paced environment has left you feeling burned out or disconnected from your purpose, VITAS offers a path back to what matters most.
nAs a VITAS Hospice Admissions Nurse, you’ll be the compassionate bridge between hospital or community care and the comfort of hospice. You’ll guide patients and families through one of life’s most important transitions with clarity, empathy, and confidence.
nThis isn’t just a job—it’s a calling.
nWhat You’ll Do
nnConduct comprehensive clinical assessments to determine hospice eligibility
nEducate patients and families about hospice services and Medicare benefits
nCollaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams
nProvide emotional support and clinical guidance during the decision-making process
nInitiate and complete the admission process, including documentation and coordination
n nWhat We’re Looking For
nnRegistered Nurse (RN) with a valid state license
nMinimum 2 years of nursing experience (hospice, palliative, ER, ICU, home health or case management preferred)
nStrong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
nCompassionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
nActive listener who builds trust and rapport
nConfident in guiding others through uncertainty, addressing concerns with empathy
nReliable professional with strong follow-through and autonomy
nPatient-centered advocate committed to dignity and comfort
n nWhy You’ll Stay
nMission-Driven Work
nFeel deeply connected to the heart of nursing by helping patients and families understand why hospice is the right care at the right time.
nA Balanced Pace, A Powerful Impact
nMake a meaningful difference without the burnout of traditional bedside care. Your time and talent are respected here.
nSupportive Leadership & Collaborative Culture
nWork in an environment where your clinical voice is heard, your expertise is valued, and your impact is recognized.
nOpportunities for Growth
nVITAS supports your professional development with ongoing learning and career advancement opportunities.
