nMt. Carmel Hospice is seeking an experienced and passionate Hospice Educator (RN) to lead clinical education, orientation, competency development, and ongoing professional training for our hospice team. This role is critical in ensuring clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and the successful integration and development of new and existing colleagues.
nThe Hospice Educator serves as an educational leader, mentor, and clinical resource while partnering with leaders to support onboarding, competency validation, technology adoption, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
nWhat You'll Do
nOrientation & Onboarding
nnnDevelop and implement individualized orientation plans for new clinicians.
n
nnCollaborate with managers, preceptors, schedulers, IT teams, and new hires to facilitate successful onboarding.
n
nnProvide oversight of field orientation and evaluate progress toward competency goals.
n
nnReview clinical documentation and provide coaching and real-time feedback.
n
nnDevelop action plans and re-education strategies when learning gaps are identified.
n
nnServe as a mentor and coach to support clinician success and engagement.
n
n nClinical Education & Competency Development
nnnAssess educational needs and design effective learning programs for hospice staff.
n
nnCoordinate ongoing education and competency validation activities.
n
nnCollaborate with leadership and quality teams to identify learning opportunities and performance improvement initiatives.
n
nnSupport survey readiness and compliance with federal, state, local, and accreditation requirements.
n
nnMaintain education records and documentation.
n
nnDesign, implement, and evaluate educational programs for professional and non-professional staff.
n
nnFacilitate monthly and ongoing education sessions.
n
nnUtilize adult learning principles and a variety of teaching methodologies.
n
n nInformatics & Clinical Documentation Support
nnnServe as an education and informatics resource for clinicians.
n
nnSupport staff proficiency with technology platforms, including:
n
nnHomecare Homebase (HCHB)
n
nnLearning Management Systems (LMS)
n
nnMicrosoft Office applications
n
nnAgency technology tools
n
nnProvide coaching and education regarding hospice documentation and regulatory standards.
n
nnPartner with leadership to address documentation improvement opportunities.
n
n nStudent & Clinical Affiliation Coordination
nnnServe as the primary liaison with schools, colleges, and universities.
n
nnCoordinate student placements and clinical learning experiences.
n
nnSupport faculty, student, and resident onboarding.
n
nnEnsure compliance with all affiliation requirements and confidentiality standards.
n
nnAssist in developing policies and procedures related to student clinical experiences.
n
n nProgram Development & Leadership
nnnParticipate in committees, special projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
n
nnContribute to the development of policies, procedures, competencies, and continuing education programs.
n
nnCollaborate with vendors and community partners as needed.
n
nnSupport patient-centered care initiatives and organizational goals.
n
n nMinimum Qualifications
nRequired
nnnGraduate of an accredited Nursing Education Program.
n
nnCurrent RN licensure in the State of Ohio.
n
nnStrong knowledge of hospice regulations, compliance, and clinical practice standards.
n
nnProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to create educational materials, presentations, curricula, and instructional resources.
n
nnExcellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
n
nnAbility to travel throughout the service area as needed.
n
nnCommitment to Mt. Carmel's mission, values, Code of Ethics, and Compliance Program.
n
n nPreferred
nnnGraduate of an approved Nursing education program, bachelor's in nursing is preferred.
n
nnTen (10) years of nursing experience, including hospice experience.
n
nnExperience in end-of-life care, home health, oncology, palliative care, or hospice.
n
nnCPR Instructor Certification.
n
n nCertification Requirements
nnnCertification in Hospice and Palliative Care (CHPN or equivalent) required within one year of employment.
n
nnMental and Physical Requirements - Frequently lift, stands, and walks (80% of time) - Occasionally bend, stoop, and twist (10% of time). - Occasionally position and lift patients (10% of time). - Must be able to travel to various TH/THHS worksites or various work locations as required
