Both parents travel for work and keep full, often unpredictable schedules. Between demanding professional lives and raising two children who are deeply involved in sports and school activities, our days move fast and our home reflects that beautiful, wonderful chaos. Our children, both athletic, social, and full of energy. Our older child is very independent but needs reminders on transitions (i.e, reminders to pack water bottles, sports gear). Our younger child is full of energy and thrives with structure and a calm, steady presence when they get home after a long day. The after-school window matters a lot in our home. We want it to feel like a soft landing: gear organized, and someone warm and grounded there to meet them where they are.Our home runs on good intentions and a lot of moving parts. Mornings start early, evenings are packed with practices and pickups, and the in-between hours are where things tend to pile up — laundry half-switched, dishes from breakfast still in the sink, a grocery list that never quite gets ordered. We use a Skylight calendar to try to keep everything visible, but honestly, it's underutilized, and we'd love someone who sees that tool as a natural way to communicate and coordinate rather than waiting to be told what's next.We are a family that values clear communication, and a thoughtful approach to health and wellness. Reliability, initiative, and warmth are qualities we prioritize highly in the people we invite into our home. We've had the opportunity to work with exceptional household professionals in the past and understand the tremendous impact the right person can have on a family's daily life. We're looking for someone who is proactive, trustworthy, and takes genuine ownership of their role—someone who anticipates needs, follows through, and helps create a sense of calm, consistency, and support within the household.Who We're Looking ForThe ideal candidate for this role is someone who walks into a home, reads the room, and gets to work — without needing a daily text telling them what to do. You are the kind of person who notices the laundry is sitting in the dryer and switches it, sees that the Kroger list is building and places the order. You lead with warmth and reliability, and you take genuine pride in making a household run smoothly. You are patient, calm, and confident with children, especially those with big personalities, high energy, or who may need extra support and guidance throughout their day. You remain steady under pressure, adapt easily when plans change, and strike the right balance between maintaining structure and embracing flexibility. You are a natural problem-solver who takes initiative and looks for solutions before escalating challenges. Highly organized and proactive, you communicate clearly and efficiently, keeping schedules and household information updated through shared tools like Skylight rather than relying on constant back-and-forth communication. Most importantly, you take ownership of your role and bring a dependable, supportive presence that helps the entire family feel cared for, organized, and set up for success.Key ResponsibilitiesFamily SupportAfternoon school pickups and carpool driving to and from extracurricular activitiesProvide a warm, calm after-school transition — greeting kids, having snacks ready, managing carpool logisticsOrganizational coaching and routine support for younger son: unpacking backpack, pulling papers for parent review, building locker and homework habits as he transitions to middle schoolOccasional transportation for kid appointments.Assist with camp preparation — reviewing packing lists and helping gather and organize gearHousehold Organization & MaintenanceDaily resets of the kitchen, mudroom, den, and common areas — dishes, surface wipe-downs, and general tidyingLight vacuuming of high-traffic areasPrepare home before and after biweekly housekeeper visitsHelp create and maintain household organization systems, particularly in the mudroom, garage drop zone, and kids' areasCoordinate and execute donation drop-offs to prevent piles from accumulatingWatering of indoor and outdoor plants (approximately 8 each)Occasional patio furniture maintenance (cleaning off outdoor surfaces approximately every 60 days)Overseeing vendors and contractors during scheduled service windowsInventory & ErrandsRestock pantry, refrigerator, and household suppliesManage running household supply lists via SkylightManage household orders and subscriptions (Kroger, Amazon)Handle returns, dry cleaning drop-off, gift shopping, and donation runsOccasional mail and package handlingMeal SupportCollaborative meal planning approximately 3 nights per week using a rotating set of family-favorite meals; healthy, protein-forward diet.Batch cooking to near completion — casseroles, proteins, and sides ready to reheat; family handles finishing touchesDouble recipes for leftovers to accommodate varying sports schedules and staggered dinner timesManage Kroger grocery orders using the shared Skylight grocery list, schedule delivery, receive and put away groceriesDaily kitchen clean-up and maintenanceLaundry & LinensWash, fold, and organize laundry; put away as neededLinen and towel rotation; prepare sheets for housekeeper visitsOccasional ironing, steaming, or dry cleaning drop-off (once or twice per month)Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areasPet CareWalk dog and ensure she is out of her crate during working hoursDoggy daycare pickup approximately once per week (daycare is less than 1.5 miles from home)Schedule grooming, vet, and daycare appointments approximately every 60 daysMaintain pet suppliesOptional: pet sitting during family travel approximately 4 times per year, paid additionallyDeep Cleaning & Special ProjectsOccasional deep cleans of refrigerator, oven, and baseboardsMudroom and garage organization and refreshOngoing seasonal organizational projects (gear, bedding, toys)Administrative & Calendar SupportManage Skylight calendar — uploading school schedules, flyers, field trip reminders, and activity schedules so it becomes the family's central reference pointTransition daily household communication from parent-driven texts to house manager-led, calendar-based updatesCoordinate appointments and events; manage scheduling logisticsOccasional light travel support such as restaurant research (not full travel planning)How to ApplyPlease submit a short intro letter telling us a bit about yourself and why this role is a great fit, an updated resume, and 3 professional references with current contact information.
