Job description
Housekeeper PositionThe Housekeeper will provide hands-on support of the house cleaning, laundry, and daily household operations to ensure the simplification and cleanliness of a private family and their residences. This part-time position will be located at private residences primarily in Ada, Michigan and periodic work in Holland, Michigan. The schedule will be three days a week, 9AM – 3PM.Work closely with Lead Housekeeper with daily household cleaning practices to ensure the residence(s) are kept in pristine condition. Perform basic daily household duties, i.e., cleaning bathrooms, ensuring cleanliness of the kitchen, filling and emptying dishwasher, taking out the trash, dusting, vacuuming, and putting décor items and belongings back in appropriate locations. Assist with orderliness and cleanliness of families' rooms, living, recreation, and storage areas; organizes supplies, picks up toys, and other items as directed. Ensure surfaces and floors are kept clean and organized. Conduct beginning and end-of-day procedures, including walk-through of residence to ensure personal belongings are stored properly and overall tidiness of residence. Perform routine deep cleaning, i.e., organizing cupboards, closet cleanouts, washing interior windows, completing spring cleaning. Assist with other project cleaning as needed such as floor/surface/grout scrubbing or carpet/upholstery cleaning. Gather articles to be laundered, pressed, and steamed from closets and laundry stations and sort by color, fabric, and family member. Wash and dry all items. Carefully adhere to clothing care instructions on individual clothing and product labels. Maintain orderliness and safety of laundry area. Ensure laundry products, iron, and other laundry related items are properly maintained and stored. Empty lint screen in drying machine and cleans interior of washing machines as necessary. Inspect clothing articles and report damaged items. Return clothing and household items to appropriate storage areas. Maintain organization and orderliness of the closets and drawers. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of household cleaning supplies, personal products, and other basic supplies. Inform Lead Housekeeper of inventory needs. Stock for household as needed. Ensure readiness of residence for entertainment or special events. Run errands and drop off used household supplies as necessary. Perform special projects as assigned by the Properties Manager. Greets vendors and guests calling at the home; accepts delivery of packages. Exercises open communications with other household staff. Be a team player; chip in where needed. Proactive in ensuring other household staff are aware of important issues which impact efficient operations of the homes.Previous housekeeping/house cleaning experience required. Demonstrate attention to detail, organization, and follow-through in daily routines. Must be a responsible, dedicated, dependable, and self-directed person of highest integrity; organized and reliable; positive in attitude. Preservation of a quiet and peaceful household atmosphere is essential. Cleaning of the home must be conducted around family's activities, with sensitivity to privacy of family members at all times. This requires flexibility to determine which rooms to clean at what time in order to be least intrusive to presence of family. The family's privacy is of critical importance, and the highest level of confidentiality must be exercised at all times. Equipment and cleaning products will be provided by the employer. If a question arises as to equipment operation or product utilization, the Lead Housekeeper will provide guidance. Essential Physical Demands: Ability to lift thirty (30) pounds to a maximum height of six (6) feet. Ability to climb steps and stairs, bend, kneel, and remain standing on feet and kneeling on hands and knees for lengthy periods of time. Ability to work at a physically demanding pace. Ability to stand on small step stool in order to accomplish cleaning tasks.
