HousekeeperThe Pennington School seeks a dependable and service-oriented Housekeeper to join the Operations team. Reporting to the Custodial Supervisor, the Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency throughout the School's buildings and campus. The successful candidate will take pride in their work, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and work effectively with a diverse school community.Essential ResponsibilitiesPerform routine daily cleaning of campus buildings, including offices, classrooms, dormitories, and athletics facilitiesClean, sanitize, and restock restroomsVacuum carpets and perform carpet-spotting as neededClean glass, windows, and other assigned surfacesSweep, mop, strip, and wax floors as needed, including during school breaksCollect and dispose of trash and single-stream recyclingDust and polish furnitureClean, dust furniture, fixtures, blinds, offices, classrooms, and other assigned spacesDeep cleaning during school breaks, including dorm rooms, offices, residential units, and common areasAssist with event setups and other campus needs as assignedPerform additional duties as needed to support the Operations teamEssential QualificationsThree-plus years of experience in a housekeeping or custodial role is preferred.Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrated resilience, approachability, and a positive, service-oriented attitudeAbility to transition effectively between tasks and respond to changing prioritiesAbility to communicate orally and read and follow written instructions.Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the School communityAbility to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, guardians/parents, and peersOther RequirementsAvailability to work overtime and on-call hours, including weekends and holidays, as neededAvailability to change schedule when needed, either for backup or vacation coverageSuccessful completion of required background screening and fingerprinting in accordance with New Jersey Department of Education requirements and School policyAbility to operate various cleaning equipmentAbility to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, including up a flight of stairsThe position requires frequent walking throughout campus and the ability to climb stairs, as not all campus buildings have elevators. The position also requires the ability to work both indoors and outdoors and to perform physical tasks associated with cleaning, maintenance, event setup, snow removal, and other campus needs.Regular hours for this position are 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, subject to change. The minimum hourly rate for this position is $20.00. The actual offer will be commensurate with skills and experience. The ability to climb stairs is required. Not all buildings on campus have elevators.
