Housekeeping/Custodial/Janitorial Specialist (Healthcare Facility)
Location: Taos Picuris Indian Health Center, 1090 Goat Springs Road, Taos, NM 87571
Contract duration: 12 months
Work Schedule:
Shift Hours:
Staff 1: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Staff 2: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Schedule: Monday – Friday (40 hours per week with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break).
Occasional Weekends and Holidays: May be required depending on facility needs.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Custodial Services Specialist to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks in a healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting floors, furniture, and fixtures.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, exam rooms, waiting areas, and other high-touch surfaces.
Collect and dispose of trash, including biohazardous waste, following proper protocols.
Operate heavy cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, carpet shampooers, and high-speed polishers.
Respond to on-demand cleaning requests and emergency spills.
Maintain custodial closets and ensure supplies are stocked.
Follow infection control policies and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Perform annual deep cleaning tasks, including floor stripping, waxing, and carpet shampooing.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience: Minimum 2 years of custodial or housekeeping experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Skills: Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and infection control standards. Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
