nDescription
nOVERVIEW:
nThe Housing Program Assistant is responsible to the Housing Program Manager. This position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of The Salvation Army Housing Programs. The position works closely with the Resident Service Coordinator, Housing Program Manager, and Director to coordinate program operations, oversee property management functions, collaborate with the Maintenance Department, and organize and facilitate program meetings and related services.
nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
nnnCollect and record rent payments for Transitional Housing programs
n
nnConduct unit inspections to ensure safety, sanitation, and program compliance
n
nnAssist with applicant phone screenings
n
nnEnforce program policies and issues corrective actions as needed
n
nnMaintain accurate and timely data entry in Salvation Army databases
n
nnAssist with maintaining client case files
n
nnConduct routine inspections of program properties
n
nnCommunicate regularly with Maintenance Department staff
n
nnSubmit and follow up on maintenance work orders
n
nnCoordinate unit turnovers with Maintenance and vendors
n
nnPrepare housing units for move-in, including inventories
n
nnMaintain program inventory and online registry
n
nnFacilitate house meetings and promotes community engagement
n
nnSchedule and organizes program workshops and assists with childcare as needed
n
nnCollaborate with community agencies and attends community meetings as needed
n
nnSupport and coordinates volunteers and interns under management oversight
n
nnResponds to housing program emergencies and participates in on-call coverage
n
nnProvide transportation for participants as needed
n
nnAssist with holiday programs, Family Night, and alumni activities
n
nnProvide regular updates to the Housing Program Manager and Director
n
nnOther related duties as required
n
n nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
nnnCA Driver’s license (required)
n
nnBachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent education or work experience (preferred)
n
n nSKILLS AND ABILITIES:
nnnBilingual in Spanish (preferred)
n
nnStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
n
nnSelf-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently
n
nnTeam player and knowledgeable of outside resources
n
nnProficient in Microsoft programs
n
nnAbility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
n
nnDemonstrates sound judgment, professionalism, and customer service skills
n
nnAbility to maintain confidentiality
n
n nEQUIPMENT USED:
nnModern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
n nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
nnAbility to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
