Job description

Human Resources AssistantThis position will be based primarily in our Livonia Office, with travel to the Ann Arbor office as needed, including for training purposes.This is a full-time, hourly position. The Human Resources Assistant provides support for agency-wide human resources functions, administrative operations, and office infrastructure. This position plays a key role in maintaining personnel recordkeeping including HRIS data management, ensuring effective personnel onboarding, and supporting recruitment and applicant screening.This role works collaboratively with the Human Resources Specialist, as well as the entire Operations team, to support agency operations, ensure compliance with internal policies, and maintain a professional and functional work environment. The position requires flexibility, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage a wide range of responsibilities.QualificationsHigh school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferredExperience in administrative support, human resources, or office operations preferredStrong organizational skills and attention to detailStrong written and oral communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work independently and collaborativelyProficiency with computer systems and office softwareAbility to learn and adapt to new systems and technologiesExperience with HRIS systems (Paylocity) a plus.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesAssist with recruitment, screening, and onboarding of new staffAssist with pre-employment requirements, including background checks, I-9 verification, E-Verify, and reference checksCoordinate with Operations Assistant for all new staff technology and office space needs.Maintain personnel files and ensure compliance with HR documentation requirementsTrack staff orientation, training completion, and performance evaluationsMaintain agency training records and support compliance with required training standardsAssist with staff retention initiatives and HR-related projectsSupport Quality and Compliance Specialist as it relates to human resources.Assist with special projects and agency initiatives as assignedProvide general coverage support to the clerical team as needed.Administrative ResponsibilitiesAttend agency staff meetings and program-related meetingsParticipate in agency trainings and professional development activitiesMaintain an up-to-date personnel file as directed by Human ResourcesMaintain regular and predictable attendanceDemonstrate the ability to accept and apply feedbackPerform additional duties as assigned to support agency operationsThis position is primarily office-based and requires regular interaction with staff, clients, and community members. Work may require flexibility to meet agency operational needs.This position requires the ability to:Lift and move office supplies and materialsOperate office equipmentSit, stand, and move for extended periodsMust not have been convicted of child abuse or neglect, or a felony involving harm or threatened harm to an individual, fraud, or financial crimes within the 10 years immediately preceding the date of hire.
