Boutique civil litigation firm Fullerton Beck is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join our growing General Liability and Construction practice groups. This role suits a senior associate level attorney ready to take on more complex sophisticated caseload with visibility to clients and insurers, or a partner-level attorney looking to help manage, build or bring a book of business.
Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of general liability matters, including premises, construction, and negligence claims, from pleadings through resolution
Case management at Fullerton Beck means thorough investigation into the facts, actively working up the defense theories, engaging top-notch experts and beating client expectations by actively keeping clients and insurers updated as to case development, expectations and exposure
Defend claims under the New York Labor Law, including §§ 200, 240(1), and 241(6), and related contractual indemnification and insurance coverage issues; stay abreast of emerging caselaw and fraud investigation in the industry
Take and defend depositions and argue motions
Draft dispositive motions and other pleadings
Advise carriers, self-insureds, and corporate clients on strategy, exposure, and reserves
Supervise and mentor junior attorneys; partner-level candidates will also help with business development and client relationships
Qualifications
J.D. and admission to the New York bar (additional admissions a plus)
7+ years of litigation experience for senior associates; 10+ years for partner level
Substantial experience litigating in NYS and NYC courts
Working knowledge of NYLL construction-site injury claims
Trial experience is a plus
Excellent writing, judgment, and client-communication skills
Partner candidates: a portable book of business is a plus but not required
What we offer
Salary range of $140,000 to $180,000 for non-partners; salary draw for partners to commensurate with level of experience and/or portable business
