Role Description The Hydrofoil Electronic Stability Control Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Auburndale, FL. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing electronic stability and motion control systems for hydrofoil watercraft, with a focus on the WaveFlyer platform. Day-to-day tasks include developing control algorithms, integrating sensors and actuators, tuning system parameters, and conducting bench and on-water testing to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation. The engineer will diagnose and resolve system issues, collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams, and document designs, test results, and improvements. The role also involves continual performance refinement, support for prototype builds, and contributions to productization and manufacturing readiness of control systems.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong skills in Electrical Engineering and Motion Control for designing and integrating hydrofoil stability systems.

Candidates should possess practical expertise in Process Control to develop, tune, and maintain reliable control algorithms for marine applications.

Candidates should possess advanced Troubleshooting skills to diagnose system faults, interpret data logs, and implement corrective actions in both lab and on-water environments.

Candidates should possess experience in Robotics or closely related mechatronic systems, including sensor integration, actuators, and real-time control.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time control software (e.G., C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink) is highly beneficial.

Familiarity with marine or automotive dynamics, safety-critical systems, and environmental testing is an advantage.

Ability to work on-site in Auburndale, FL, collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team, and participate in hands-on prototyping and on-water trials.
