Quality Technician - In-Process InspectorL3Harris Quality Organization in Rochester, NY is looking for an In-Process Optical Inspector. We are seeking a detail-oriented inspector to perform visual and dimensional inspections of space flight optical components and assemblies. This individual may also be responsible for performing tests, analyses, and/or audits of complex products or processes to include optical components and fully integrated systems to ensure quality standards and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.Essential Functions:Interpret drawings, specifications, and work instructions to validate inspection criteriaDocument inspection results clearly and accuratelyComplete final inspection reports as requiredMaintain company quality inspection plans and proceduresImplement Continuous Improvement (CI) activities to enhance the quality systemPerform audits of all applicable products from production and record resultsResponsible for performing functions associated with Quality Audit on all manufacturing productsCollaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to communicate quality issues and support root cause investigationsEnsure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environmentMaintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration status is currentAbility to obtain U.S. Government security clearanceQualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience; Or, 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experiencePreferred Additional Skills:Experience working a CMM or Romer Arm for inspections with the Spatial Analyzer softwareKnowledge and/or experience with NASA Standards, IPC Certifications, GD&T preferredStrong attention to detail and ability to perform precise and accurate inspectionsProficient in using mechanical and/or electrical inspection equipmentAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and specificationsExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a teamStrong communication skills and ability to document and report findings clearlyExperience working in a cleanroom or controlled environmentFamiliarity with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality improvement methodologiesExcellent communication, technical writing and presentation skillsAbility to travel for source inspections and / or program support depending on program needsIn compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $49,500-$91,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
