Indie music video director wanted - a job post by Courtney Angotti

About the job

*UpdateI realize the description did not save.Project Description:Independent self-funded female artist seeking a music video director/filmmaker for an upcoming single. The concept is “doll gone bad” — Halloween meets glossy pop/rap. Colorful, feminine and doll-like with a darker, strange and slightly unhinged edge. Pretty and polished on the surface, with something increasingly psycho underneath. This is not traditional horror or gore. The sinister elements are more playful, stylish and psychological. The goal is a polished, high-energy music video with strong artist performance, choreography and character-driven moments.I already have an overall concept and visual direction, but I’m looking for a director who can bring additional creative ideas and help elevate the concept.FILMMAKER FEE: $1,500–$2,000Looking for a filmmaker/director package that includes:

Creative development / pre-production collaboration

Direction

Cinematography/shooting

Professional cinema camera package

Basic lighting package

Gimbal/stabilization as needed

One full shoot day

Full music video edit

Color grading

Location, choreographer, dancers/talent, makeup/wardrobe and approved specialty production expenses are funded separately by the artist.

Location: Los Angeles / Orange County

Potential shoot dates: September 17–20 or September 24–28

Song release: October 1

Target music-video release: October 17

Visual references include Britney Spears – “Circus,” Melanie Martinez – “Dollhouse,” Doja Cat – “Demons” and similar polished pop visuals. References are for visual language/inspiration only, not replication.

I do not expect the same level of production.

Music-video experience preferred. My last music video can be found here: am creating a universe with each song and music video bringing fans and audience into different worlds that make up the different sides of me. I tell stories through my music and visuals. This song is a dark electro/ dance rap song.

Hi, I’m Vihas Nagaraj, an independent music video director and editor from India. I’m very interested in directing this project.

I’ve worked on two feature films in the Indian film industry and have directed two independent music videos for record labels. I’m particularly drawn to your “Doll Gone Bad” concept because of the contrast between the glossy, colorful, feminine aesthetic and the darker, psychologically unhinged character underneath. I think there’s plenty of room to create something visually stylish, energetic, and cinematic without relying on traditional horror or gore.

I’d love the opportunity to bring my visual storytelling, performance direction, editing, and music-video experience to the project, while also building on your existing concept with additional creative ideas and a strong visual language.

The concept genuinely caught my attention, and I’d be excited to collaborate with you and develop it into a polished, memorable music video.

Thank you — Vihas Nagaraj Whatsapp ( )
