Job description
Industrial PainterThe Industrial Painter is responsible for applying coatings, paints, and finishes to manufactured parts, components, and equipment. This role ensures products meet quality standards, customer specifications, and safety requirements. The ideal candidate has experience with industrial coating systems, surface preparation, and manufacturing processes, and maintains a strong focus on detail and safety.Key ResponsibilitiesSurface PreparationPrepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, grinding, or blasting as requiredRemove dirt, grease, rust, and old coatings to ensure proper adhesionMask or tape areas not to be paintedPainting & Coating ApplicationApply primers, paints, and protective coatings using spray guns, rollers, or brushesMix and match paints according to specifications and manufacturer guidelinesEnsure proper thickness, consistency, and finish of coatingsOperate and maintain painting equipment such as spray booths and compressorsInspection & Quality ControlInspect completed work for defects such as runs, streaks, or incomplete coverageEnsure finished products meet quality standards and customer specificationsPerform touch-ups or rework as necessaryMaintenance & SafetyClean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areasFollow all OSHA and company safety regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materialsProperly store paints, solvents, and chemicalsUse personal protective equipment (PPE) at all timesGeneral Production SupportCoordinate with production teams to meet deadlines and workflow requirementsAssist with moving materials and parts within the facilityMaintain accurate records of materials used and work completedQualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent1–3 years of experience in industrial painting or manufacturing environmentKnowledge of painting techniques, tools, and coating processesAbility to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and specificationsStrong attention to detail and quality standardsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periodsPreferredExperience with spray painting systems (airless, HVLP, electrostatic)Knowledge of industrial coatings (epoxy, polyurethane, powder coating)Familiarity with surface preparation techniques such as sandblastingOSHA safety training or certificationsSkills & CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and precisionKnowledge of safety procedures and complianceProblem-solving and quality assurance mindsetTime management and ability to meet production deadlinesTeam-oriented with good communication skillsWork EnvironmentManufacturing or industrial facility with exposure to fumes, chemicals, and noiseRequires use of respirators and protective gearFrequent standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion
