Job TitleMechanical Utility Piping Systems TechnicianJob DescriptionUnder general supervision layout, design, install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, test and repair pipes and fittings of mechanical utility piping systems, chillers that include hot water, chilled water, steam, compressed air, sewer, chemicals, fuel oil, gases and other related systems following local and state codes. Read and understand system prints and schematics. In this role, you will be required to move and work in confined spaces, up and down ladders and to work from ladders, scaffolding and aerial lift platforms.Duties & ResponsibilitiesInstalls and repairs pipes, fixtures, and valves for water, gas, steam, and air systems.Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.Assembles fittings and valves for installation.Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed.Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing systems.Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.Analyzes problems and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair.Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.Works at heights in scissor lifts and boom lifts.Operates fork trucks for material movement and unloading of deliveries.Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.Orders materials and parts for job execution.Uses current CMMS work order system to process and complete job assignments.Accesses Building Management System to review HVAC systems and make changes if needed.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Minimum RequirementsMust have at least one of the following:AAS degree in Mechanical or Plant Utilities TechnologyAOS degree in HVAC or Construction & MaintenanceMilitary Training Course in related fieldsJourneyman SteamfitterDesired Requirements3 years' work experience in a Manufacturing Facility (with references)3 years' proven experience in Commercial HVAC service and installation.Pipe Welding certificationsLicensed Plumber in NYS5+ Years in a manufacturing facilityExperience with underground pipingBackflow preventer certificationEPA Refrigerant certificationThe hourly base pay range for this position is $34.68 to $43.89. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
