Job description
Job Summary:
nThe Infection Control Practitioner participates in institution-wide surveillance and reporting of hospital-acquired infections (HAI). The Infection Control Practitioner also participates in the investigation of infections and/or outbreaks as needed, provides consultation services to our customers, manages the hand hygiene program, and provides targeted educational activities that will support a safe environment for internal and external customers. The position requires the ability to assist in editing the content of the Infection Prevention manual, which includes the exposure control plan and the COVID-19 policies. The Infection Control Practitioner will lead and assist on quality improvement teams by providing content expertise on best practices, providing data trends, and reports to reduce HAIs.
nMinimum Qualifications:
nNYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN, bachelor’s degree in nursing, and a minimum of 5 years related post-licensure RN experience, or an ASN and 7 years related post-licensure RN experience, or MSN with 4 years related post-licensure RN experience required.
nWill also accept a bachelor’s degree in medical technology, NYS licensed (or eligible) Clinical Lab Technologist, and a minimum of 5 years clinical laboratory experience in a microbiology setting, OR a Master's in Public Health or healthcare-related field and 3 years of healthcare experience. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.

nPreferred Qualifications:
nMaster's degree, prior experience in Infection Control or related field, and certification in Infection Control preferred.
