About Pegasus Mfg. Inc.

Pegasus Mfg. Inc. is a high-performance precision CNC manufacturer supporting demanding customers across aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, industrial, and advanced manufacturing markets. Our work requires advanced machining knowledge, disciplined process control, strong technical judgment, and the ability to turn complex parts into repeatable, scalable production.

We are continuing to expand our advanced manufacturing capabilities, including 5-axis machining, automation, unattended machining, process documentation, programming standards, quality improvement, and the development of robust production systems. 5 axis job discpretion

We are looking for someone who wants to do more than maintain existing production. This role is for a technical builder — someone who can help create the next generation of machining processes, automation workflows, and engineering standards that move Pegasus forward.

The Position

We are seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Engineer to lead and support complex 5-axis CNC programming, manufacturing process development, quoting support, fixture design, tooling and workholding strategy, process prove-out, cycle-time improvement, troubleshooting, operator/setup support, scrap reduction, manufacturing engineering support, and standardization of repeatable production processes. 5 axis job discpretion

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in advanced 5-axis machining, robotics, automation, mechatronics, CAD/CAM, and practical shop-floor manufacturing. The right candidate will be comfortable bridging engineering, programming, machining, quality, automation, and production.

This is a key technical role with the potential to become part of the next generation of engineering leadership at Pegasus.

What You Will Do

Develop, program, prove out, and improve advanced 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining processes.

Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for complex precision components.

Use SolidWorks or similar CAD tools to review models, support manufacturability review, assist with fixture concepts, and evaluate part geometry.

Work confidently with FANUC CNC controls , including offsets, alarms, program edits, probing, parameters, setup support, and machine-level troubleshooting.

Lead or support new job launches from print/model review through programming, tooling, fixturing, setup, first-piece prove-out, and production handoff.

Develop tooling and workholding strategies, including tooling take-offs, fixture planning, cutting tool selection, holders, inserts, gauges, and related setup needs.

Support automation, unattended machining, lights-out manufacturing, robotics, mechatronics, and scalable production-system development.

Troubleshoot issues involving tooling, workholding, machine setup, programming, material behavior, dimensional accuracy, cycle time, tool life, and process repeatability.

Help reduce scrap, improve quality, improve manufacturing efficiency, and standardize robust processes for repeat production.

Partner with operators, setup machinists, engineering, quality, and leadership to improve process stability and production outcomes.

Create and maintain setup sheets, tooling lists, fixture notes, program records, process standards, revision notes, and lessons learned.

Support the continued technical development of the manufacturing team.

What We Are Looking For

Strong hands-on experience with advanced CNC programming, setup, prove-out, and process troubleshooting.

5+ years of 5-axis CNC programming experience preferred.

Advanced experience running and setting up 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis mills.

2-axis & Mill-turn lathe experience

Strong Mastercam programming experience, including 3-, 4-, and 5-axis programming.

Working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD software.

Strong experience with FANUC CNC controls .

Experience with CNC machining, manufacturing processes, CAD/CAM, production engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent industry experience.

Experience with fixture design, tooling strategy, workholding, process prove-out, cycle-time improvement, scrap reduction, and repeatable production systems.

Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, datums, tolerances, models, and customer specifications.

Experience machining difficult materials such as Inconel 625, Inconel 718, Titanium, stainless steels, alloy steels, or other high-performance materials is a strong plus.

Interest or experience in automation, robotics, unattended machining, mechatronics, or lights-out manufacturing is highly desirable.

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, CNC machining, manufacturing processes, CAD/CAM, production engineering, or equivalent industry experience preferred.

What Will Set You Apart

Experience building new manufacturing processes from scratch.

Experience improving cycle time, tool life, scrap rate, setup time, operator handoff, or process repeatability.

Experience mentoring machinists, setup personnel, or programmers.

Experience developing programming standards, setup documentation, tooling standards, or repeatable production systems.

A track record of solving difficult manufacturing problems and improving the process after the issue is fixed.

Desire to grow into broader engineering or technical leadership responsibilities.

Benefits

Competitive base salary of $90,000 – $140,000 per year , based on experience.

Progressive performance bonus opportunity tied to qualifying 5-axis project profitability and operational performance.

Moving assistance available for the right candidate.

Paid vacation: 2 weeks, increasing to 3 weeks after 2 years of continuous employment.

7 paid holidays.

3 sick days.

3% matching 401(k).

Medical coverage.
