Position Overview
The Process Technician/Shift Supervisor is responsible for troubleshooting all process machines and production line setup and changeovers. The technician is responsible for building the initial samples to every start-up, for each machine. This role ensures optimal operation of blow molding and injection molding equipment while maintaining production tooling and supporting team training and development. The position serves as a technical leader and serves in the "Manager on Call" rotation for night shift operations.
Essential Responsibilities
Production Operations & Setup
Supervise and control blow molding and injection molding machines to ensure constant and stable output of goods
Troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow
Perform production changeovers and set production lines to achieve defect-free parts while respecting planned cycle times
Build initial samples for any tooling set-up, guarantying they are according to Customer requirements
Review and properly fulfill quality and production forms that will be used during production
Equipment & Tooling Management
Maintain production tooling through regular cleaning and service before returning to Maintenance dept.
Initiate the work order request for any maintenance of production machines, equipment and tooling
Ensure all machinery operates within specified parameters
Training & Documentation Support
Assist the Production Manager in training production personnel in machine use and troubleshooting
Support the Maintenance department staff in machine problem diagnostics
Operational Support & Flexibility
Alternate with other Process Technicians and Production Manager as "Manager on Call" for night shift operations
Observe all company safety and personnel policies and practices as well as quality policies, practices and requirements
Important Requirements (High Priority)
Technical Expertise
Essential: Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar process technician or production setup role
Essential: Strong knowledge of plastics and injection operations
Essential: Ability to perform production changeovers and achieve optimal machine settings
Essential: Proficiency in building initial samples and setting up production lines
Essential: Proficiency in troubleshooting production equipment and processes
Operational Skills
Relevant: Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintenance record-keeping
Relevant: Ability to supervise production operations and equipment
Required: Computer knowledge for documentation and reporting
Additional Qualifications
Experience & Skills
Experience with plastic injection molding operations
Knowledge of production, tooling, maintenance and storage procedures
Ability to read and interpret production specifications (including prints and drawings) and quality forms
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in production setup or process technician roles
Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations for manufacturing operations
Bilingual capabilities (English & Spanish or English & Italian) considered a plus
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Physical Demands
Ability to stand, crouch, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs
Must be available for "Manager on Call" rotation and extended hours when needed
Environmental Conditions
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, manufacturing equipment, and production environment
Work environment typically has elevated noise levels
Occasional exposure to plastic processing fumes and airborne particles
Schedule Expectations
Standard business hours with flexibility for production needs
Participation in "Manager on Call" rotation for night shift support
