Job Summary:
nSUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Providers to join the Cardiology Team. The Inpatient Cardiology Consult Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide high-quality care to patients requiring Cardiology Consultation. This position will conduct Inpatient encounters at both Downtown and Community Campuses, with possible cross coverage of the Heart and Vascular Center.
nPosition is based in a Level I Trauma Center that provides Critical Care and services to patients across a 17+ County Region. Scheduling is determined based on operational needs. Upstate operates 24 hours a day/Seven days a week, providing continuous care to our region.
nKey Responsibilities:
nnnConduct inpatient encounters at the SUNY downtown campus providing education to and interfacing with primary teams, patients, and families prior to discharge.

nnAssess and evaluate patients, order and interpret laboratory tests & diagnostic studies, and arrange referrals, consultations, and therapeutic services.
n
nnBuild and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, referring physicians, and all members of the health care team.
n
n nAs an APP, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate’s mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.
nMinimum Qualifications:
nnnMaster’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (or graduated from an accredited PA program) or eligible by time of appointment.
n
nnCurrent NYS Licensure or Registration as an NP or PA.
n
nnCurrent National Certification consistent to the clinical practice.
n
nnHave a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire).
n
nnCPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
n
nnACLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
n
nn1 year Inpatient APP experience.
n
nnSuccessfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.
n
n nPreferred Qualifications:
nAt least 2 years Cardiology APP experience.
nWork Days:
nPrimarily Day shift with rotational Weekend and Holiday coverage.
nEvening and Night shifts may be required based on operational needs.
nShifts may range from 8 to 12-Hour shifts.
