Pharmacy - Pharmacy Manager 3 days ago Reno, NV
An opportunity is available to lead pharmacy operations in a post-acute specialty hospital setting with 25 staffed beds and an average daily census of 23 patients. This contract role, located in Reno, NV, spans 8+ weeks and provides an engaging environment to oversee medication management and patient safety within a focused inpatient hospital pharmacy.
Work Schedule:
Pharmacy hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
Weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage required
Key Responsibilities:
Review and verify medication orders, assess for drug interactions, and ensure proper dosing aligned with patient needs
Manage and supervise medication distribution to patient care units, including medication carts, automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis), and emergency medication supplies
Provide leadership and training for pharmacy technicians; develop staff schedules and performance
Oversee inventory control including medication ordering, stock monitoring, controlled substance management, and waste reduction
Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, hospital policies, and accreditation standards
Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy and patient care
Participate in medication safety initiatives to uphold the highest patient safety standards
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Active and clear Nevada pharmacist license is mandatory
Proven experience in IV compounding within an inpatient hospital setting
Strong leadership and staff management skills
Familiarity with hospital pharmacy systems; Wellsky experience is highly valuable
Comfortable operating with Pyxis automation system
Ability to handle on-call pharmacist responsibilities during off‑hours, supported by remote order entry services
