Summary

About the Position: Conduct sensitive classified and unclassified administrative investigations by developing investigative plans, collecting and analyzing evidence, and producing detailed reports and recommendations.

Responsibilities

Identify and make recommendations regarding violations of law, regulations, and other serious problems.

Exercise good judgment, distinguish relevant from irrelevant facts.

Analyze completed records of investigation into allegations of impropriety by senior officials.

Draft complex reports of investigation regarding violations of law, regulations, and other serious problems, abuses or deficiencies.

Examine evidence in order to validate investigative findings and/or recommendations.

Distinguish relevant from irrelevant facts and pursue each matter with objectivity in order to draw a conclusion.

Develop and/or implement investigative plans for gathering and analyzing information and evidence.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing investigative plans to produce reports on potential violations and/or deficiencies; analyzing evidence to develop supportable conclusions; conducting interview of witnesses and/or subjects related to investigations; and developing accurate written products to clearly document investigative findings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
