Job description
Inspector I Quality ControlInspection of parts to design tolerances to ensure the quality of the product prior to use in manufacturing.Responsibilities:Inspect new parts received from internal and external suppliers in a timely with little supervision. Identify & report defects to Quality Manager or Quality EngineerPartner daily with Quality Manager for priorities and inspection needs.Report non-conforming material to Quality Manager or Quality EngineerKnow how to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T calloutsKnow the production priorities for the work day and help to assure the completion of production priority work.Assist in creation of NCRs for product which fails inspectionPerform sorting operations when the need arisesOther duties as assigned, depending on the needs of the siteQualifications:Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Time management skills.Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, completing jobs and must be able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.Attention to details and ability to focus on assignment.Knowledge of reading engineering technical drawings, including GD&T calloutsEffective English communication skills, including writing.Good problem solving and Quality background strongly preferred.Knowledge of inspection tools (i.e. scopes, calipers, micrometers, etc) along with ability to focus for an extended amount of time while using microscope.Knowledge or experience with visual inspection tools, such as Keyence or OGP SmartScope, is highly preferredHave good computer skills and able to use Microsoft office products.Must be able to work weekends when needed.Planning and Decision Making:Excellent organizational skill to manage the daily shipment prioritization requirementsSpeedy communication of defects foundAbility to prioritize and complete ongoing tasksImpact and Scope:100% of product to be inspected prior to shipping.100% Customer SatisfactionIdentified training mandatory for the role to be completed competently:Reading of engineering drawingsOperation and proficiency of Keyence vision systems and OGP SmartScopeKey Internal & External Stakeholders & Relationships:Quality ManagerManufacturingEngineeringPlanningTravel %: 0Security: US Citizen RequiredAdditional InformationWhy Smiths Interconnect?Global Impact: As part of Smiths Group, a global engineering leader, you'll be working on ground-breaking technologies that make a difference in industries that are shaping the future.Career Growth: Opportunities for professional development and career progression across Smiths Interconnect and the wider Smiths Group.Innovative Culture: Join a collaborative and innovative team, where your ideas and contributions are valued and rewarded.Competitive Package: We offer a competitive salary, benefits package, and performance-related incentives.Location: Dundee is an exciting city with a growing tech sector and vibrant cultural scene, making it a great place to live and work.We believe that different perspectives and backgrounds are what make a company flourish.
