nPOSITION SUMMARY:
nThe Swim Instructor is responsible for conducting swim lessons for both group and one-on-one private swim lessons. Lessons are conducted in the morning hours and may also be offered in the evening.
nThe Swim Instructor is responsible for instructing and developing athletes. This role involves designing and implementing training programs, providing instruction and feedback, and fostering a positive and competitive environment for athletes.
nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO :
nnTeaching relevant skills, tactics, and techniques to a wide range of athletes, individuals, and groups
nInstruct and coach children while they engage in group and individual sports activities
nPrepare and lead a variety of activities that are age-appropriate
nMonitoring, evaluating, and enhancing participant performance and needs
nProviding suitable feedback via positivity, encouragement, example, and motivation
nDemonstrating an activity clearly by breaking down the task or technique into a sequence
nFriendly and courteous with participants and team members
nIdentifying athlete strengths and areas for development
nEnsuring a safe environment for all participants to avoid accidents or injuries
nPrepare and sign all certificates and course record sheets
nImplementing the lesson plans in an accurate, creative, positive, and efficient fashion
nEnsure proper use and care of pool equipment and teaching aids
nReport any maintenance or safety issues to management
nAll additional duties assigned by management
n nTHE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
nnAmerican Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
nAmerican Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid, CRP/AED Certified
nExperience and success in customer service, leadership, and team building
nAction-oriented personality with a 'get it done' attitude and proficiency for efficiency
n nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
nn2-3 years' experience of swim lessons instruction is preferred
nStrong swimming ability and knowledge of different swimming techniques
nMust have excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills
nMust be a team player
nMust have excellent leadership and motivational skills
nMust be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skills
nMust be willing to work a flexible schedule, predominately after-school and weekends
nAbility to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast paced environment
nMust be at least 18 years of age
n nWORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
nnMust be able to lift 50 pounds waist high
nMay be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop, or bend
nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in direct sunlight and be exposed to outside weather conditions
nMay be exposed to hot, wet, and humid conditions
