Job description
Insurance Defense Attorney (All Levels) | Fairfax, Richmond, Roanoke or Virginia Beach, VA (Hybrid) | $115,000 to $225,000+ You’ve won a case on contributory negligence. Then you spent twenty minutes on the phone explaining to an adjuster three states away why that’s even allowed.
Virginia defense lawyers carry a different toolkit. A national defense firm wants more of them, and I’m recruiting on their behalf.
The brief they gave me is unusually open. They want insurance defense attorneys at any level, from any corner of the practice. Auto, premises, product liability, professional liability, construction, employment. If a carrier was paying for the defense, it counts.

Northern Virginia, Richmond, Roanoke or Virginia Beach.
Hybrid wherever you land, with flexible schedules.
Pay is set by level and market
Pick your level
Associate, 3 to 7 years: $115,000 to $150,000. Your own files from suit to trial.
Senior attorney, 8 to 15 years: $140,000 to $200,000. A caseload you shape.
Partner level: $180,000 to $225,000+, with origination and bonus on the table.
What you’d be handling
General liability, personal injury, product liability and professional liability.
Clients from household name corporations to individuals and small business owners.
Your own pleadings, motions, depositions and trial prep.
The firm behind it
Defense only, for decades.
Offices across several states plus DC. They add a seat when the work is already waiting for it.
401(k) profit sharing, medical, dental and vision, life and AD&D, short and long term disability, FSAs and holiday pay.
You’ll need
A JD and an active Virginia license.
At least 3 years of insurance defense.
