The Office of Inspector General is charged with the responsibility of investigating allegations of waste, fraud, and financial mismanagement in public education within the jurisdiction of the Chicago Board of Education. The Office's Sexual Allegations Unit (SAU) investigates allegations of sexual misconduct by a CPS-affiliated adult, including employees, contractors, vendors, and charter schools, where the victim is a CPS student and/or a minor.Job Summary:Reporting to the Investigation Support Team Lead, the Intake Specialist will take complaints regarding allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment of CPS students. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that will be paid for time worked on an hourly basis.The Intake Specialist will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:Intake and process new complaints by answering the 833-TELL-CPS Hotline and receiving reports of sexual abuse or harassment via emailFollow up with school administration for additional information as needed; complete preliminary follow up with complainants and others as appropriate to gather facts pertaining to allegations of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment of CPS students by staff membersData entry to track and monitor complaintsPrepare detailed and accurate reports of activities conducted in each investigationReview surveillance video, emails and phone records, request and review personnel files and past disciplinary records, and engage in other investigatory acts as appropriateUpdate and maintain case files and case management records in order to report on the status of assigned investigationsClosely coordinate with CPS' Law, Safety and Security, and Title IX Offices, other departments and external agencies to ensure student safety and facilitate the delivery of trauma and/or social-emotional services to students, families and staffPrepare complaints for action by the Inspector General and other supervisorsAssist investigative staff in the conduct of criminal, large-scale and complex InvestigationsOther duties as assignedIn order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Intake Specialist must possess the following qualifications:High School Diploma or GED equivalent is requiredBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferredMinimum of two (2) years of related professional experience in positions requiring strong organization and documentation skills is requiredMinimum of one (1) year experience in an investigative or compliance environment is preferredBilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated ability to meet short deadlinesProven ability to distill information and concisely report on it to supervisorsRefined judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential informationSkills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem-solving techniques, interviewing, and investigationAnalytical and critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze information and facilitate the resolution of difficult challenges, including the ability to handle issues of complex and extreme sensitivityAbility to write concise, logical and analytical reports to convey complex issuesAbility to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines and work independently while maintaining high levels of organizationInterpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people, including children, parents, faculty, staff and law enforcementBenefits:Health & Wellness: Your Care, Your ChoiceCPS is committed to providing comprehensive health coverage to our employees and their eligible dependents. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
