Job description

Consumers Energy is Michigan's largest energy provider, providing natural gas and/or electricity to 6.8 million of the state's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties. General Summary of Responsibilities

Join ourDigital Productsand &Technologyteam and help our subject matter experts tacklereal businesschallenges in the energy industry. As an intern,you'llengage with critical topics, sharpen your analytical, creative, and leadership skills, and contribute to developing innovative applications using agile tools. Your work matters: you will drive operational improvements that save costs for customers, improve performance so we can more effectively deliver heat and light, and develop applications that increase customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support the full software development lifecycle-including prototyping, design, testing, debugging, documentation, and deployment-within an agile environment using Test-Driven Design (TDD) and paired programming approaches.

Contribute technicalexpertiseto IT projects, focusing on solution design, configuration, testing, and documentation.

Conduct market research and benchmarking to inform process improvement and strategic planning.

Develop PowerPoint presentations to communicate complex information effectively.

Ensure deliverables areaccurate,timely, and within budget.

Translate user requirements into agile-based application development solutions.

Utilize software tools to analyze, interpret, and present data effectively.

Report to different leaders depending on project scope, department, and office location.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability tomaintainand update technical documentation (e.g., ReadMe files)

Growth mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt

Business value-focused mindset with an understanding of broader impact

Awareness of basic architectural concepts and standards

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Understanding of software development principles and best practices in coding

Education/Experience

CurrentlyEnrolled and actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in the business or engineering field majoring in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a similar field.

TheminimumGPA of 2.7 or higher.

Preferred Experience

Proficiencyin C# and .NET frameworks (Core, .NET 5)

Proficiencyin front-end languages/frameworks (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Next.js)

Experience with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, Azure API Management,Mulesoft)

Experience with testing tools (e.g., Bruno, Postman,Blazemeter,Jmeter, Certify)

Proficiencyin Microsoft Azure services (e.g., Azure AD, Data Factory, Logic Apps, Functions)

Familiar with Azure Generative AI services and methods (OpenAI, Cognitive Services, Speech Services, RAG model)

Familiar with Azure DevOps, CLI, PowerShell, and CI/CD

Familiar with API security (OAuth, JWT)

Proficiencyin Python and experience with machine learning frameworks
