Intern, Finance & Accounting (Summer 2027)
Position Overview: This is a Finance & Accounting (F&A) summer internship opportunity within the Accounting Service Center. The intern will rotate through the department spending approximately two weeks in each function including AR/Billings, Accounts Payables, Travel Expense processing, General Ledger Accounting, and payroll.
Location: Onsite in Lynchburg, VA
Your Day to Day as a Finance & Accounting Intern: Provide SAP transactions and expense reporting data for inclusion in AR billings. Assist with reviewing employee expense reports. Assist with scanning in general ledger transactions. Assist with filing and scanning for payroll. Support team members with daily operational tasks in their respective function. Work as a team member in meeting the needs of the office staff, leaders, and customers. Evaluate current systems and procedures and make process improvement suggestions, including the use of AI.
Required Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with a focus on Finance or another relevant field. Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and handle multiple tasks successfully. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong skills with Microsoft Office suite. Ability to develop effective working relationships. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
Pay: $20.45 - $26.27 The starting hourly rate for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $20.45 and $26.27 per hour. The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify the hourly rate (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation, or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or applicable department/team performance, and other market factors.
