Intern - IT Infrastructure
At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.E. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.E. stock awards). Position Summary
The IT Infrastructure Intern will provide assistance to the Infrastructure Department with various recurring tasks as well as special projects.
Primary Accountabilities
Assist with infrastructure documentation and inventory, hardware replacement and configuration, server maintenance and patching, and technology lifecycle and modernization projects.
Support technology refresh initiatives across the Bank's footprint.
Gain hands-on exposure to enterprise infrastructure including networking, servers, cloud technologies, security, storage and backup, directory and authentication, collaboration and communications, monitoring, and automation.
Depending on skill set and project needs, assist with scripting and automation efforts that improve the efficiency of routine infrastructure tasks.
Shadow members of the Infrastructure team across multiple technical domains and collaborate with other IT teams and business units.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
The internship will run for Summer of 2027 beginning mid-May and ending early August.
Able to work a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday, between 8 a.M. and 5 p.M.
Must reside local to Effingham, IL and report to the Effingham office.
Enrolled in a degree program with courses of study including Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field at a college or university with at least 2 years completed.
Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python is a plus, but not required.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, communication skills, and a desire to learn.
Basic understanding of networking, servers, and operating systems.
Works well in team environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Teams.
Demonstrates ability to learn and use new software and programs.
