About IBM Cybersecurity

IBM Cybersecurity brings together security consultants, engineers, analysts, responders, and technical specialists who help organizations strengthen resilience against evolving cyber threats.

Introduction

We are looking for early-career professionals excited to build technical skills and contribute to meaningful client work from day one. In this role, you’ll support real-world cybersecurity challenges across security operations, cloud security, identity and access management, risk management, threat detection, incident response, and emerging technologies.

At IBM Consulting, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting enterprise-scale cybersecurity programs while developing technical, consulting, and business expertise in a collaborative environment.

Your Role And Responsibilities

As a Security Consultant, you will specialize in implementing security solutions for clients and stakeholders while addressing security, regulatory, risk, and compliance issues. You will maintain a current understanding of industry trends and contribute to identifying risks and developing mitigation plans.

Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include

Assist with Security Solutions: Support the implementation of security solutions for clients and stakeholders, addressing security, regulatory, risk, and compliance issues.

Learn from Industry Trends: Observe and learn from industry trends to stay current and expand your knowledge in key cyber security areas.

Participate in Risk Identification: Engage in identifying risks and assist in developing mitigation plans under the guidance of senior team members.

Contribute to Security Strategies: Assist in defining business-driven security strategies and roadmaps, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.

Engage with Stakeholders: Interact with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and support the achievement of business objectives.

The primary internship program dates are May to July 2027 (10 weeks).

Preferred Education

Bachelor's Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

Exposure to Security Solutions: Familiarity with implementing security solutions for clients and stakeholders, addressing security, regulatory, risk, and compliance issues.

Basic Understanding of Industry Trends: Awareness of current industry trends in key cyber security areas, with a willingness to learn and expand knowledge.

Interest in Risk Identification: Curiosity about identifying risks and developing mitigation plans, with a desire to assist in these efforts under guidance.

Understanding of Security Strategies: Basic comprehension of business-driven security strategies and roadmaps, with an ability to assist in defining and implementing them.

Familiarity with Stakeholder Engagement: Exposure to interacting with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and support business objectives.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

Multiple Certifications in Cyber Security: Holding certifications in key cyber security areas is beneficial for this role, demonstrating a commitment to staying current with industry developments.

Advanced Knowledge of Industry Trends: Having a deeper understanding of industry trends and developments in cyber security can enhance performance in this position.

Business Acumen: Familiarity with business operations and objectives can aid in defining effective security strategies and roadmaps.
