nCentral Maine Healthcare is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join its Internal Medicine team serving the Central Maine region. The Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive, evidence-based primary and specialty medical care to adult patients. The NP evaluates, diagnoses, and manages acute and chronic medical conditions while emphasizing preventive care, patient education, and long-term health management.

nCentral Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. The system includes Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) in Lewiston, a 250-bed, not-for-profit regional referral hospital that is home to the region's only Cancer Care Center, an orthopedic ambulatory surgery center, and the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute. CMMC also serves as the central Maine base for LifeFlight of Maine, the state's only medical helicopter service.

nResponsibilities
nnnPerform comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations.
n
nnDiagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions commonly seen in adult medicine.
n
nnDevelop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and other healthcare professionals.
n
nnOrder and interpret laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other studies.
n
nnPrescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness and potential adverse effects.
n
nnProvide preventive healthcare, including health screenings, immunizations, and wellness counseling.
n
nnManage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, COPD, and cardiovascular conditions.
n
nnEducate patients regarding medications, lifestyle modifications, disease management, and preventive health.
n
nnCoordinate referrals and care with specialists, hospitals, and other healthcare providers.
n
nnDocument patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
n
nnParticipate in quality-improvement initiatives and follow applicable clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards.
n
n nQualifications
nnnMaster's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
n
nnCurrent national NP certification, such as ANCC or AANP certification.
n
nnActive RN and APRN/NP license in the applicable state.
n
nnAdult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification, depending on the practice.
n
nnCurrent BLS certification; additional certifications may be required by the employer.
n
nnStrong clinical assessment, diagnostic, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
n
nnExperience in internal medicine, primary care, or adult healthcare preferred.

n nPay Transparency
nCentral Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $131,000 to $146,000. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
