About this role

As a Petroleum/Mechanical Engineer Intern at Mewbourne Oil Company, you will gain hands‑on experience in the day‑to‑day operations of a leading independent oil and gas company. This immersive internship provides direct exposure to field production activities, drilling and completion operations, facility maintenance, regulatory compliance, and safety procedures across Mewbourne's operating areas.

Interns work alongside experienced field personnel, foremen, lease operators, production engineers, and management teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of upstream oil and gas operations. Through field visits, job shadowing, and project‑based assignments, interns will observe and participate in activities such as well site inspections, production optimization efforts, equipment monitoring, troubleshooting operational challenges, and analyzing field performance data.

This internship is designed to provide meaningful, real‑world experience while helping interns build technical knowledge, problem‑solving skills, and an understanding of how various disciplines work together to safely and efficiently produce oil and natural gas.
