Inventory Accountant
nPacket Digital is seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative Inventory Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate inventory accounting, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring strong inventory controls throughout the organization.
nBeyond inventory accounting, this role serves as a key backup for essential finance functions including payroll accounting, budgeting, and forecasting. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who enjoys improving processes, driving efficiencies, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the finance organization.

What You'll Do
nInventory & Cost Accounting
nnMaintain accurate inventory records and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
nPerform monthly inventory reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
nAnalyze inventory transactions, reserves, adjustments, and obsolescence.
nMonitor inventory valuation and cost accounting activities for accuracy and consistency.
nPrepare and post inventory-related journal entries.
nComplete account reconciliations related to inventory balances.
nSupport month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
nAssist with physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.
nPartner with Operations, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams to improve inventory controls and data accuracy.
nSupport internal and external audit requests by providing inventory-related documentation.
n nFinancial Reporting & Analysis
nnPrepare financial reports and analyses related to inventory, costs, gross margins, and operational performance.
nInvestigate and explain financial variances.
nSupport management reporting with accurate and timely financial information.
nPerform ad hoc analyses and participate in special projects.
n nPayroll Accounting Support
nnServe as a backup for payroll accounting functions.
nPrepare payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations as needed.
nSupport payroll accruals, employee benefits accounting, and payroll reporting activities.
nAssist with payroll audits and compliance requirements.
nMaintain documentation to ensure continuity of critical payroll processes.
n nBudgeting & Forecasting
nnAssist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting activities.
nPrepare budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual analyses.
nCollaborate with department leaders to gather and validate financial information.
nSupport financial planning and management reporting initiatives.
nHelp improve forecasting accuracy and reporting effectiveness.
n nProcess Improvement & Operational Excellence
nnIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across accounting and finance operations.
nEvaluate existing workflows and recommend automation opportunities.
nStrengthen internal controls and standardize accounting procedures.
nSupport ERP enhancements and technology initiatives.
nDevelop and maintain process documentation, training resources, and cross-training materials.
nParticipate in continuous improvement projects that drive productivity and operational excellence.
nContribute to a collaborative, team-oriented culture by sharing knowledge and best practices.
n What We're Looking For
nRequired Qualifications
nnBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
n10+ years of accounting experience.
nStrong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills.
nExperience working with ERP systems.
nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
nAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
n nPreferred Qualifications
nnExperience with payroll accounting and reconciliations.
nExperience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.
nExperience with financial reporting and business intelligence tools.
