Job description
Investigative AnalystThe Investigative Analyst shall provide analytical and investigative support to the DEA Diversion Control Program by conducting comprehensive background investigations and financial analyses on new DEA registrant applicants. The objective is to identify criminal activity, financial concerns, undisclosed ownership interests, diversion risks, regulatory violations, or other factors affecting eligibility for DEA registration.Duties and Responsibilities• Conduct comprehensive background investigations on DEA registrant applicants. • Identify owners, officers, partners, investors, key employees, and possible straw owners. • Perform financial analyses to identify suspicious financial activity, shell companies, nominee ownership, bankruptcies, liens, judgments, and other risk indicators. • Review corporate records, business licenses, court records, property records, and regulatory history. • Conduct open-source and social media research. • Review authorized law enforcement and financial databases. • Prepare investigative summaries, timelines, ownership charts, link analyses, and risk assessments. • Support Diversion Investigators during inspections and investigations. • Maintain documentation in accordance with DEA policy.RequirementsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Intelligence Studies, Economics, Public Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.The bachelor's degree requirement may be waived for individuals possessing a minimum of ten (10) years of full-time sworn law enforcement investigative experience involving criminal investigations, financial investigations, regulatory investigations, intelligence analysis, or comparable investigative duties.Experience with DEA Diversion investigations, financial investigations, money laundering, healthcare fraud, regulatory compliance, Controlled Substances Act investigations, corporate ownership analysis, cryptocurrency investigations, intelligence analysis, OSINT, and technical report writing.Strong analytical and writing skillsWorking knowledge of current financial investigation techniques.Skilled and capable in oral and written communicationsproficiency with Microsoft Officeability to identify suspicious financial activityability to work independently and manage multiple investigationsSecurity clearance requiredUS CitizenshipRAI is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and will not discriminate against any application for employment based on age, race, color, gender, national origin, religion, creed, disability, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation, genetic information, military status, disability, or sex including pregnancy and childbirth or related medical condition or on any other basis prohibited by law.
