This vital role plays a key part in ensuring the health and safety of licenses and the public.

The Investigator (Compliance Specialist 2) supports consumer protection and regulatory compliance by conducting thorough investigations of complaints related to licensed individuals and facilities governed by HLO-administered boards, councils, and programs. Through comprehensive investigative work and detailed reporting, this position helps guide enforcement decisions and uphold Oregon's licensing standards.

As an Investigator, you will conduct investigations, gather and analyze evidence, interview involved parties, prepare detailed reports, recommend enforcement actions, and testify in administrative hearings. If you possess any of these attributes, please highlight them in your application, resume, and address specifically in your cover letter.

Investigative Skills: Ability to plan and conduct thorough investigations; gather information and evidence from multiple sources; conduct interviews; identify relevant facts and inconsistencies; and develop well-supported findings.

Analytical Thinking and Sound Judgment: Ability to evaluate complex or conflicting information, apply relevant requirements, weigh available evidence, and reach well-reasoned conclusions.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, listen effectively, conduct sensitive or difficult conversations, and convey complex information in writing and verbally.

Attention to Detail and Accuracy: Ability to recognize significant details and inconsistencies, maintain accurate documentation, and produce thorough and reliable work.

Integrity, Fairness, and Professional Independence: Ability to remain objective, handle sensitive information appropriately, treat individuals fairly and consistently, and make decisions based on facts and applicable requirements.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing more years of experience and meeting more of the desired attributes.
