Based in Irving, Texas, you will work within a collaborative technology team, contributing to the full software development lifecycle while operating with a strong degree of autonomy and technical ownership. This is an opportunity to apply deep Java and Spring Boot expertise to meaningful, complex problems in the financial services industry.

Responsibilities

Design and develop high-quality Java and Spring Boot components, applying sound architectural decisions with minimal oversight.

Build and maintain backend services across the full stack, including RESTful APIs and microservices integrated within a service-oriented architecture.

Write comprehensive unit, integration, and performance tests using JUnit and Mockito to ensure reliability and production-readiness of delivered code.

Conduct peer code reviews across the team's codebase, providing clear and constructive technical feedback that improves code quality.

Analyze existing applications to identify vulnerabilities, security gaps, and performance bottlenecks, then implement targeted remediation and optimizations.

Evaluate and adopt emerging development tools, libraries, and methodologies to continuously raise delivery quality and engineering standards.

Engage with internal technology teams and stakeholders to assess technical requirements, recommend programming solutions, and support the implementation of enterprise systems.

Required Qualifications & Skills

5 or more years of hands‑on Java development, with deep expertise in Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Web, and Spring Data.

Advanced knowledge of core Java concepts including threading, collections, exception handling, JDBC, object‑oriented design and programming principles, and SOA design patterns.

Proven ability to build, deploy, and manage containerized applications running on Kubernetes and Docker platforms.

Solid experience designing and delivering microservices and service‑oriented architectures using REST‑based communication patterns.

Practical experience working within Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines, applying Agile methodologies throughout the software development life‑cycle.

Working knowledge of SQL, with familiarity with Oracle as a preferred dialect.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate clearly across technical teams and engage effectively with non‑technical stakeholders.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

Experience designing and deploying cloud‑ready applications on large‑scale container platform clusters, including the build‑out of automated deployment pipelines.

Familiarity with modern engineering practices such as Behavior Driven Development, Extreme Programming, and DevOps workflows.

Background in financial services application development, with an understanding of the compliance and risk considerations relevant to enterprise‑grade systems.

Experience managing or contributing to end‑to‑end project delivery, including scoping, planning, and stakeholder coordination.

Education

Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Access to continuous learning and professional development resources to deepen your technical skills and grow your career in enterprise software engineering.

Meaningful technical ownership and autonomy, with the opportunity to shape architectural decisions and drive engineering quality across a complex, large-scale technology environment.

Exposure to global technology teams and cross‑functional collaboration across Citi's international network.
