Job description
The CLM Implementation Specialist is a senior delivery leader who was a prior commercial transactions experience who is has experience overseeing enterprise Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) implementations across multiple platforms, including Agiloft, Ironclad, LEAH, Malbek, and other leading solutions.
The ideal candidate would be someone who used to practice law focusing on commercial transactional or commercial litigation who now has pivoted to CLM implementation from start-to-finish or an unlicensed JD who has commercial contracts experience.
This role combines portfolio leadership, technical domain expertise, delivery governance, and internal practice development. The Director is accountable for ensuring successful project outcomes, maintaining margin targets, developing team capability, and supporting strategic growth initiatives.
This position is critical to scaling a high-growth CLM practice operating across multiple industries and platforms.
Job Requirements:
Must have CLM implementation experience
Must be an unlicensed JD or Attorney with commercial contracts experience
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Leadership & Delivery Governance
Oversee a portfolio of concurrent enterprise CLM implementations.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and within margin targets.
Serve as executive escalation point for delivery, scope, and risk issues.
Maintain delivery quality standards and enforce methodology adherence.
Monitor utilization, staffing allocations, and financial performance across portfolio.
Conduct regular health checks and risk reviews.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
Directly manage Project Managers, Functional Leads, and/or Business Analysts.
Lead hiring, onboarding, and performance management activities.
Drive certification and platform enablement initiatives.
Develop bench strength and succession plans.
Coach delivery leaders on stakeholder management and solution maturity.
Technical & Platform Expertise
Maintain deep expertise in at least one major CLM platform and strong working knowledge of others.
Advise on solution design decisions, workflow architecture, and automation strategies.
Partner with Solution Architects on integration and enterprise architecture alignment.
Ensure solutions follow platform best practices and scalable design patterns.
Sales & Strategic Support
Support late-stage pursuits, solution workshops, and client presentations.
Review and validate Statements of Work (SOWs), staffing plans, and delivery assumptions.
Assist in effort estimation and margin modeling.
Provide credibility and subject matter expertise during executive sales cycles.
Practice Growth & Internal Initiatives
Lead internal initiatives such as:
AI/GenAI enablement within CLM solutions
Template rationalization and playbook development
Platform accelerators and reusable assets
Contribute to forecasting, capacity modeling, and growth strategy.
Support cross-platform governance and standards.
