nSalary: $18.54 Hourly

nThe Arc Eastern Connecticut has been providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 60 years. We actively champion for full community inclusion and are a licensed and contracted service provider of the Connecticut Department of Development Services. We provide residential, daytime, employment, and social supports to people with IDD and their families. Come join our team!

nMonday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:00pm

nDescription:

nThe Job Coach is responsible for training, supervising, and supporting individual with disabilities in the community specifically relating to the individual’s employment needs. They will adhere to the policies established by The Arc Eastern Connecticut, Inc. Board of Directors.

nEssential Functions:

nnnProvides individualized supports, services, and advocacy to persons with intellectual and other related developmental disabilities to help facilitate their full participation and inclusion in the communities of Southeastern Connecticut.

n

nnEnsures confidentiality as required by law and the Arc and DDS policies and procedures.

n

nnTrains, supervises, and supports program participants according to the principles of Supported Employment and based on current trends and methods.

n

nnEnsures the participants’ work is quality and that each participant is meeting the production standards that have been set by the employer(s).

n

nnActs as the primary liaison between assigned worksites and the Arc.

n

nnProvides training and information to job site personnel.

n

nnDevelops community contacts with potential employers.

n

nnMeets employment specification of sub-contractors.

n

nnProvides transportation for work utilizing own (proof of insurance required) or Arc vehicle or arranges transportation utilizing community transportation resources.

n

nnTeaches travel skills to program participants as needed.

n

nnEnsures the safety of all individuals including the proper use of equipment, facilities, and vehicles.

n

nnReports all accidents and incidents immediately to supervisor.

n

nnProvides a written incident report according to Arc safety policies and procedures.

n

nnDevelops, implements, and maintains neat, accurate, and comprehensive written assessment records including annual and quarterly reviews, service plan, approved behavior programs and procedures.

n

nnTransfers and lifts individuals as needed.

n

nnDeescalates a participant’s aggressive behavior according to DDS policies and procedures (may be required to complete this task without assistance).

n

nnAssists in the cleaning maintenance of Arc facilities and vehicles.

n

nnPeriodically reviews the information in master files and files those documents correctly.

n

nnOther duties may be designated to maintain service quality.

n

n nExpectations:

nnAdvocates for and protects participants’ rights in accordance with Arc policies and procedures.

nnTreats all individuals in an age-appropriate manner, with respect and dignity, and to encourage opportunities that promote choice.

nnMaintains a mature and positive attitude when dealing with program participants, staff, families, the public and outside representatives.

n

nnWorks with a spirit of cooperation with all departments.

n

nnCarries out all job responsibilities in a professional manner.

n

nnAttends all agency staff meetings and training sessions.

n

nnMaintains attendance. Adheres to policies on attendance, days of absence, and illness.

n

nnKeeps supervisor informed of any significant events or the need to modify any area of the operation/activity.

n

nnServes as a positive and appropriate role model for program participants.

n

nnProvides advocacy for participants based on their personal choice and their individual plan.

n

nnDevelops and maintains positive relationships with participants, their families, and providers.

n

nnResponds to need of participants, families, and providers in a timely and professional manner.

n

nnPossesses a valid driver’s license, privately owned vehicle, and evidence of insurance.

n

n nMinimum Qualifications:

nnnHigh School Diploma or GED ( General Equivalency Diploma ).

n

nnMinimum of one year experience in health/human service field.

n

nnThe Job Coach must obtain a public service license within 90 days of the hire date. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment. You will be required to obtain and maintain CPR, Medication Administration, and First Aid certification for the duration of employment.

n

nnThe Job Coach must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. You will be required to participate in lifts, transfers, and behavioral or physical intervention when necessary. You may be exposed to risk of injury or exposure to occupational health hazards.
