Job Coach
The position of Job Coach is to assist students with disabilities in the acquisition of work maturity skills necessary to obtain employment and independently maintain employment within the community. The Job Coach will provide ongoing instruction and support to students while working at various employment sites within the school and/or community. This support is individual based and centered around those skills necessary for successful, long term, competitive employment. The main focus of this support is on helping the student obtain the maximum level of independence within the employment setting.
The Job Coach's responsibilities may include:
Transport the students to and from the work sites using district provided vehicles and/or accompany the students to and from work sites via district provided transportation
Provide job coaching across all of our program areas: classroom; facility; community
Devise, plan, and implement job coaching strategies
Assist students to discover and overcome their personal barriers and set goals
Communicate with students to understand their goals and ambitions
Assess the strengths of students and teach them to use them effectively
Guide students in learning to complete job tasks
Present and teach job searching skills and techniques
Advise on workplace accommodations for students with disabilities
Counsel students on fine tuning work habits/skills in preparation for competitive employment
Monitor and evaluate progress of students
Keep records and documentation and prepare appropriate reports
Willing and able to work with students with incontinence and/or personal care needs in a respectful and professional manner when necessary
Model and maintain positive, professional working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community
Act as a role model for appropriate workplace behavior
Communicate with job sites and secure those sites/additional sites with appropriate contracts/agreements, clearances (if necessary), etc…
Attend required meetings and in-service training sessions
Travel training so that the student/s can access employment opportunities
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education and/or designee
The qualifications for this position are:
Pennsylvania Teacher Certification or Emergency Permit
Child Abuse Clearance
FBI Fingerprinting
Must Be CPR, CPI, and First Aid Certified
Pennsylvania Department of Education Form 6004: Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification
Pennsylvania State Police Clearance
School Health Form: Physical and Tuberculosis Test
