Journeyman ElectricianASCEND Aerospace & Technology, LLC (ASCEND) is an All-Small Mentor-Protégé Program (ASMPP) Joint Venture (JV) between Aerodyne Industries, LLC and Amentum Technology Inc., that leverages our 12+ year collaboration as award-winning NASA contractors. With this foundation of expertise, we are dedicated to helping every mission succeed—today and into the future.This role is as a Journeyman Electrician in support of the Maintenance Services Department under the Contract for Organizing Spaceflight Mission Operations and Systems (COSMOS), which is NASA's next-generation mission operations contract located on-site at Johnson Space Center. COSMOS ensures the continuity of critical human spaceflight support by providing mission control services, advanced training systems, and full-scale spacecraft mockups for astronaut preparation and engineering analysis.The Journeyman Electrician applies experience, electrical code knowledge, and sound judgement while performing a variety of tasks such as the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment used for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electrical energy. Typical equipment and systems supported include electronic controlled Power Distribution Units and Power Transfer Switches, reconfigurable power distribution grids, and hardwired bus grids. Expected work hours are Monday through Friday, 6 AM till 2:30 PM but may include some weekends as the work and schedule dictates. On call 24 x 7Successful candidates will:Possess a Journeyman license and maintain it through annual electrical code training.Strictly abide by OSHA, NASA, and COSMOS Safety & Quality policies, practices, and procedures. (New hires will receive General and Task Specific training along with Personal Protective Equipment prior to being allowed to participate in any electrical or physical work)Provide electrical expertise for the development of work package instructions to support system modifications.Utilize work packages, electrical code, test equipment and task specific instructions to install, modify, or repair electrical grids, circuits, and power distributing equipment.Develop and maintain strong relationships during regular interactions with NASA customers and other contractors while working together to support program needsTrack procurement milestones and ensure timely delivery to meet project schedules.Possesses strong team-building skills across multi-functional areas that establish a collaborative operational structure including active listening, prompt service and follow-upExhibit proven track record of working under tight deadlinesBe well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government and contractor personnel at all levels.Job Requirements:Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and Journeyman Electrician's License and 7 years of general experience.Must be physically be able to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, work in confined spaces and on elevated platforms, and be able to pass a physical in order to wear PPE and breathe through a respirator.Must be able to obtain a NASA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Badge for NASA credentials.Ability to work on high, hard-to-reach areas utilizing motorized aerial work platforms such as boom lifts, scissor lifts, vertical mast lifts, and articulating lifts.Ability to work in areas with asbestos utilizing proper safety protocols and personal protective equipment.Desired Requirements:Experience with Office 365 ToolsAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, age, marital status, pregnancy, genetic information, or other legally protected status.Final compensation is determined through a comprehensive evaluation of several key factors, including the candidate's educational background, specialized technical expertise, and relevant professional experience.
