Journeyman ElectricianEMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for a Journeyman Electrician in Washington DC. Under general supervision, The Electrician performs journeyman-level work in the design, installation, construction, modification, repair and maintenance of electrical apparatuses, equipment and systems. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99#egsEssential Duties & ResponsibilitiesInspect, isolate, troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions using various test instrumentsTest electrical equipment for safety and efficiencyPlan the layout and wiring of new or remodeled installationFabricate electrical parts;Inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations;Inspect related work performed by contractors;Estimate cost, time and materials for electrical projects;Participate in the maintenance and operations of an electrical shop;Clean, maintain and service tools and equipment used in the performance of duties.QualificationsRequires journeyman or higher electrical license.Requires eligibility to obtain security clearance.A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or government facilities preferred.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk for extended periods; use hands to finger, handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms; talks or hear and test or smell.
