In this role, you will perform service work that includes troubleshooting, installing, and repairing plumbing systems. You will diagnose issues, execute repairs and installations, and ensure that all work meets high-quality standards and local codes. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with homeowners are essential for success in this position.In this role, you will be responsible for:Diagnosing problems and failures in plumbing systems and equipmentDetermining whether repairs or replacements are needed for customersInstalling and assembling plumbing systems and equipment, including valves, pipe fittings, and pipesPerforming installation, maintenance, and repairs on water and gas systems, pipes, fittings, and componentsTesting for leaks using compressed air and/or water to ensure functionality and safetyRepairing and maintaining plumbing systems by replacing washers, mending burst pipes, and clearing clogged drainsManaging the inventory of plumbing supplies in the vehicle, including checking stock, placing orders, and verifying receiptsKeeping equipment and tools operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established proceduresMaintaining safety equipmentAdditional duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Journeyman Plumber license requiredJourneyman Gas Fitter preferredExperience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial systems.Valid driver's license and clean driving record.Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications.Expertise in installing, maintaining, and repairing water, gas, and sewage systems.Familiarity with local and state plumbing codes and regulations.Experience with various tools and equipment, such as pipe cutters, threaders, and soldering tools.Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose complex plumbing issues and recommend effective solutions.Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers, team members, and supervisors.Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, working in confined spaces, and handling tools for extended periods.Safety-Oriented: In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.Customer Service: Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service, with a focus on professionalism and customer satisfaction.Technology Skills: Basic knowledge of mobile apps and work management software to track tasks and report on job progress.Leadership & Teamwork: Ability to lead apprentices, work well within a team, and coordinate with other trades on larger projects.Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and emergency calls, as needed.The physical requirements of this job include:Lifting 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionallyClimbing ladders, accessing attics, navigating tight spaces, driving, entering crawlspaces, pushing, carrying, pulling, using hand tools, and performing fine detail work.Ability to drive.Working in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, attics, crawlspaces.Ability to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone.Use hands to handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms.Regularly stoop, kneel, bend, and crouch.The work requires regular exposure to extreme temperatures both indoors and outdoors, such as heat or cold, and adverse weather conditions such as wind, rain, ice or snow.Southern Home Services will make reasonable accommodations to allow an employee to perform the essential functions of the job.Southern Home Services will make reasonable accommodations to allow an employee to perform the essential functions of the job.Benefits:We offer a rewarding career path with great benefits, flexible schedules, professional and on-the-job training, and growth plans.
