nAbout the Role
nWe're looking for a Junior Accountant to help ensure the financial integrity of our general ledger and support timely, smooth month-end and year-end closes. This position reconciles account balances and bank statements and owns our payroll function and related reporting. It's a hands-on role performed fully on-site.
nEssential Duties and Responsibilities
nnnSupport day-to-day and monthly accounting operations, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and initiating reimbursements for some receivables
n
nnHelp maintain an accurate general ledger database and ensure integrity between the GL and development database
n
nnContribute to external audits by preparing schedules, coordinating projects, and providing accurate, relevant reporting
n
nnDocument and maintain policies, procedures, and workflows for assigned areas of responsibility
n
nnPerform bi-weekly payroll processing and related reporting, including verifying timesheets and union dues
n
nnWork with Human Resources to ensure accurate employee setup/changes in payroll, benefit/union deductions, reporting, and accruals; resolve payroll discrepancies; process and maintain retirement transmissions, reports, and census; prepare final checks on time
n
nnPrepare bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
n
nnMaintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
n
nnMaintain schedules for select prepaid expenses, amortizing and recording monthly allocation expenses as appropriate
n
nnPrepare certain monthly reports in a timely manner
n
nnAssist with departmental and organizational special projects as assigned
n
nnAssist with budget preparation as necessary
n
nnPerform other accounting duties as assigned
n
n nQualifications
nEducation & Experience
nnnBachelor's degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
n
nnMinimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
n
nnThorough understanding of accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
n
nnExperience with Blackbaud Financial Edge and ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
n
n nSkills
nnnStrong time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills
n
nnDetail-oriented, with the ability to effectively prioritize competing projects
n
nnAbility to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations
n
nnAbility to write clear reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
n
nnAbility to present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, clients, customers, and the public
n
nnSolid math skills: calculating earnings, labor hours, overtime, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume; basic algebra
n
nnSound judgment applying instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; able to work through problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations
n
n nTechnical Skills
nnnKnowledge of computerized general ledger systems (e.g., Blackbaud Financial Edge)
n
nnKnowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now)
n
nnProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
n
n nOther Requirements
nnMust pass a background check upon hire
