Job description
Celtic Bank is looking for a Junior Business Development Officer (BDO) to support our SBA lending team. In this remote role, you’ll partner with a BDO based in Tennessee to originate SBA loans, equipment leasing, and Asset-Based Lending (ABL) transactions for small businesses nationwide. You’ll help with everything from prospecting and credit analysis to closing and post-closing relationship support. The ideal candidate brings a commercial lending or credit background, along with strong organization and communication skills. Help show small business owners the value of Celtic Bank’s entrepreneurial lending approach
Build and maintain relationships with customers and brokers who market directly to small business owners
Assist with prospecting, outreach, and tracking new opportunities
Use Salesforce to track leads, opportunities, and accounts and keep the pipeline accurate
Perform pre-underwriting due diligence and credit analysis, and prepare and organize credit files and checklists for underwriting
Help obtain signed commitments after approval and coordinate funding with the Operations team
Coordinate closing logistics and help borrowers deliver closing documents
Provide general administrative support to the BDO
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Commercial banking, lending, or credit analyst experience (retail banking experience alone does not qualify)
Strong credit skills and working knowledge of credit analysis, underwriting, and loan structuring
Strong customer service skills
Proficiency with Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and the internet
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Experience with SBA lending, equipment finance, or ABL

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. use hands to type, handle documents, and perform other office related duties. Mobility: The employee in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Must be able to read, write and understand fluent English.
Work Model: The employee in this position will work either a fully Onsite, Hybrid or Remote work model. All employees, regardless of location, may be required to travel to the Salt Lake City office for mandatory company meetings, events, or related occasions.
