Job description
Our client is seeking a Junior Construction Litigation Associate to join its growing litigation team in Nashville. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior attorney looking to build a sophisticated litigation practice focused on construction disputes, complex commercial litigation, and contract-related matters.
The firm is open to candidates with 1-3 years of litigation experience, including attorneys currently serving in or recently completing a judicial clerkship. Prior construction litigation experience is beneficial but not required. Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills are the highest priorities for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Support all phases of litigation from case inception through resolution, trial, and appeal.
Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and memoranda.
Manage and participate in written discovery, document review, and fact investigations.
Assist with depositions, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
Collaborate with clients, experts, consultants, and litigation teams.
Handle matters involving construction defects, delay claims, contract disputes, payment disputes, insurance-related issues, and other complex business litigation matters.
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in Tennessee or eligible for admission.
1-3 years of litigation experience, including judicial clerkship experience.
Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical abilities.
Strong oral advocacy and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced legal environment.
Demonstrated interest in litigation and dispute resolution.
Preferred Experience
Current or recent federal, state, or appellate judicial clerkship.
Experience with commercial litigation, construction litigation, or complex civil litigation.
Drafting dispositive motions, briefs, and substantive legal filings.
Trial preparation, courtroom exposure, or evidentiary hearing experience.
