Description
The Medical laboratory Technician/Phlebotomy laboratory assistant supports the effective operation of the laboratory and assist faculty in providing a safe organized, and effective learning environment for students. This is a part time, hourly paid position with employment on a semester basis.

Qualifications
Holds ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist preferred, Medical laboratory Technician would be considered;
3 years' experience in a clinical setting preferred
Job Responsibilities
The MLT/Phlebotomy adjunct lab assistant shall perform the following essential tasks/responsibilities:
Prepare the laboratory for scheduled student learning activities, including setting up equipment, supplies, specimens, reagents, media, and other instructional materials as directed by MLT faculty.
Assist faculty during student laboratory sessions by providing technical and logistical support and reinforcing established laboratory procedures.
Clean, organize, and maintain instructional laboratory areas before and after laboratory activities Work collaboratively with the MLT Operations Coordinator, faculty, clinical partners, staff, and students to support program effectiveness and student success.
Perform other duties related to the operation of the MLT instructional laboratory as assigned.
Related tasks/responsibilities (as appropriate):
Assist with proper handling, storage, and disposal of biological materials, sharps, chemicals, and hazardous waste according to established safety procedures. Ensure that appropriate personal protective equipment and safety supplies are available for laboratory activities.
Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and institutional policies.
The position may require prolonged standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
