Lab Assistant/PhlebotomistThis position will work full time at 32 hours per week. Come work where we specialize in you! Together we are the best place to get care and the best place to give care.Job SummaryThe Lab Assistant is responsible for supporting laboratory operations by performing phlebotomy on patients, maintaining lab equipment, processing of specimens, performing tests and quality control, and ensuring the lab safety protocols are followed. This role reports to the lab leader.What You Will DoPerform venipuncture and capillary puncture on adult, neonatal and pediatric patients according to established protocol. Identifies and labels specimens. Assists in care of patient prior to, during, and after collection.Check-in patients and verify that all necessary information is accurate and complete while processing the test orders in the computer system, utilizing both Epic and Laboratory Information System according to laboratory protocol.Instruct patients in all urine, stool, and other bodily fluid collection procedures and testing requirements and obtain and process urine specimen for drug screening.Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood products and cleans and maintains equipment in work area. Inventories supplies for re-order, and routinely stock supplies.Answer telephones, maintain logs, create files, maintain inventories of supplies. Order entry in the laboratory information system.Education QualificationsHigh School Diploma and/or GED RequiredSkills and AbilitiesAbility to become and maintain proficiency in the computer systems.Excellent communication skills with internal and external customers of the lab.
