Job description
Phlebotomist – Mary Immaculate HospitalThe Laboratory Department is looking for a Phlebotomist to join our growing team. The Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing quality blood samples from patients, preparing those specimens for lab testing, and completing clerical duties in a timely manner to maintain the department efficiently. Responsibilities will include order entry, result look-up, report generation, and answering internal/external calls in a friendly and helpful manner.Essential Functions:Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful mannerCollects all specimens according to established procedures from patients and ensures that they are properly processedIdentifying patients accurately and matching the patient's identity with the correct service is critical for patient safetyResponsible for data entry and processing of specimen by labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as requested by test ordersPerforms departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, and answer phones as neededMust possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptlyOther duties as assignedEducation:High School Degree or GEDLicensure/Certification:Phlebotomist Certification preferred but not requiredExperience:One-year phlebotomy experience preferred but not requiredCustomer service in a retail or service environment preferredSkills & Abilities:Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-pasted environmentEngage with staff and patients in a professional mannerPosition requires travel to off-site locationsRange: Minimum: $17.25 Maximum: $25.87Bon Secours Mercy Health is an equal opportunity employer.As a Bon Secours Mercy Health associate, you're part of a Mission that matters.
