This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse patient demographic in a setting dedicated to precise and compassionate specimen collection. If you are experienced with blood draws, specimen labeling, and maintenance, this position provides a rewarding environment to apply your expertise.Perform blood draws using straight needles or butterfly needles, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Label specimens accurately, process and centrifuge samples, and prepare them for testing according to established protocols. Collect and store specimens such as blood, urine, or fecal samples, ensuring compliance with temperature and handling requirements. Explain procedures clearly and courteously to patients, helping to put them at ease during the collection process. Match requisition forms to specimen containers, verify test orders, and ensure correct labeling and documentation. Package specimens properly for transport, following specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity. Adhere to OSHA and Department of Environmental Protection regulations, consistently wearing appropriate PPE and following safety protocols. Maintain laboratory equipment and update patient information in the system, while performing routine cleaning and decontamination. Respond to inquiries, read laboratory results as needed, and perform additional duties as assigned to support the laboratory team.Proven experience in blood collection, including venipuncture, using straight and butterfly needles. Strong knowledge of specimen handling, labeling, centrifuging, and storage procedures. Excellent communication skills to explain procedures to patients clearly and courteously. Ability to accurately match requisition forms to specimens and verify test orders. Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols, OSHA, and environmental regulations. Attention to detail in documentation and specimen processing.Certification as a phlebotomy technician or equivalent certification is preferred. Prior experience working in a clinical laboratory or healthcare setting is highly desirable. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in phlebotomy is a plus. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
